We woke up on Thursday morning and headed down to the gift shop/eatery area of the Beach Club for breakfast. Not long after, the bell hop came and collected our luggage to take to the ship for us. We hung out in our room for a while and watched TV and then it was time to head to the Solarium to meet with the representative for the cruise line and get on the bus.
This is Zachary excitedly waiting to leave the Beach Club's Solarium and get on the bus.
While we were waiting for the other families to show up, I took several photos around the Beach Club. Taylor and I saw the Little Mermaid Disney Vacation Club statue and had to take a quick pic!
Before long, it was time to leave the Beach Club. It took about an hour of being on the bus before we made it from Disney World to Port Canaveral.
It was pretty exciting when we could first see the ship off in the distance. The bus driver told all of us that since the Dream is so much larger than the other cruise ships, you can see it at a farther distance than the others. Once we got a little closer, I took some photos of it.
We got off the bus and headed into the port terminal. There were so many people. We had to check in and get our room keys and then stop off at the kids check in area to get the kids tracking devices...aka mickey bracelets for the Oceanears Club.
This is a photo of the kids inside the terminal.
Once we made it through the check-in process, we stopped for a family photo. The cool thing about this is that they take a photo of each of your faces and then the computer system knows your face and they can match up any photo taken of you on board the ship.
After the photo, it was time to walk the gang plank and enter the ship. Once you get inside the ship, they ask for your last name and then over the loud speaker say something to the effect of, "Now welcoming the Wehrenberg Family." Pretty cool.
We made it to our room and took a few photos before we headed to Cabanas for a buffet lunch. It was about 2 p.m. at this time and we were starving!
This is the chandelier in the atrium area of the lobby. So pretty!
After we ate lunch, we walked around the pool deck of the ship. Checked out the Aqua Duck and waited for the Sailing Away party to start.
At one point, Taylor and I needed to use the restroom. I loved the way the mirrors were arranged in the public restrooms of the Dream.
After the Sailing Away party was over and the ship was moving, we headed inside to meet Captain Mickey and head to dinner at the Royal Palace.
This is Taylor outside of the Royal Palace. It was at our first dinner on the Dream that we met our wait staff. Nancy was the waitress who brought us our drinks and bread. She was so sweet and was bound and determined to teach the kids Spanish before the trip was over. She's from Peru. Aswald was our main waiter and he was in charge of our food. He was from the Caribbean. Pascal from Belgium was in charge of the section of the restaurant we were dining in. It was fun to get to know each of them and the kids have already asked if Nancy can be at our table the next time we go.
After dinner, it was time to see our first show aboard the Dream. "The Golden Mickeys." I loved this show. It was an award show and different characters came out to perform and receive a Golden Mickey. We were sitting about 4 rows back from the stage, so I was able to sneak a few photos every now and then since I didn't need my flash.
After the show we went back to our room for bed. Our bed had been turned down with chocolates included and the kids beds had magically appeared. Zachary's was the couch that turned into his bed and Taylor's pulled down from the wall. They were pretty excited about that.
