We woke up to see that we had made it to Castaway Cay! I remember when just the first bit of land was coming into view, then the rest of the island unfolded before our eyes. This was what the island looked like as the boat was getting into the port.
We were quick to get off the ship and see the island.
I had never seen the ocean before going on this cruise. Well...I have flown over it going on two separate trips to Europe, but had never really put my feet in the sand and been to a real, live beach! This was a first for me and the kids.
I was able to get a few photos of the beach and ocean before the majority of the people got off the ship.
This picture is the activity area that is out in the water. The kids loved climbing on the ropes.
The kids with the Dream behind them.
Zachary and Taylor had so much fun playing in the water. They built a sand castle, ran, played, swam. One of the games they played was running as fast they could from the beach into the water and seeing how far they could get in the water before they fell down.
This is the activity area in the water. Both kids climbing across the rope ladders. I will admit that I was the only person standing almost waist deep in the water with my camera...but I had to get pictures of them playing on this. Did I mention that the water was a little chilly...I'm guessing somewhere between 65 and 70 degrees.
After they played for a bit, it was time for lunch at Cookie's BBQ. It was really good and they also had a fresh fruit stand where they cut the fruit right there. Yum! The other yummy part of lunch was the soft-serve ice cream. There were ice cream machines on the boat and island that you could help yourself to at any time. I think I mastered the art of putting ice cream on a cone!
After lunch, Zachary wanted to go to Scuttle's Cove...the kids club area on the island and Taylor wanted to have her hair braided. She was insistent on having her whole head braided. I wanted her to just get a couple of braids. We settled on headband braid. I knew it would be painful for her and tried to explain this to her. Most mornings she can hardly handle having her hair brushed. She went forward with it though and an hour later and lots of tears, she had her hair braided. A week later, she's still has the braids in.
After her hair was done, she wanted to go to Scuttle's Cove too. So off we went. Then, I walked around for a little bit, took this photo of the Dream and then went back to the beach to find Michael.
After a little while, we decided to go back to the ship to shower and get ready for our last dinner and show on board the boat.
This was taken looking almost straight up at the part of the Aqua Duck that goes off the side of the boat. If you look, you can see a raft in that part of the tube.
When we got back to our room, there was a cute towel monkey hanging from the ceiling waiting on us!
One last look at the island before we sailed away from it.
In the Atrium, the "Sea Ya Real Soon" party was about to start. All the characters came out to say good-bye to everyone. The kids were able to meet a few of the characters and then were ready to head back to the Oceanears Club for a little bit before it was our dinner time.
When we picked them up from the Oceanear's Club, they were in the lab part playing a game that was on the dance floor. They were having a lot of fun.
We had our last dinner at the Enchanted Garden restaurant. Said good bye to Nancy, Aswald and Pascal and went and watched our last show...Believe. It was another amazing show!
We headed back up to our room to go to bed one last time in room 6508. We had such a great time on the Dream and the kids have asked everyday since we have been home when they get to go back on the boat.
